Tutorial 2: Pathway Loading
Loading a KGML file
You may load any (see tutorial 1 for details) KGML pathway file from disk by using the menu command “File/Open”. The file extension of the downloaded file needs to be “.xml”, to be correctly recognized by the system.

Using Web-Access for loading a pathway file
(1) Open the side panel “Load”. (2) Click the button “Select Organism” - a list of organisms is shown. (3) Select the desired organism and use the now populated tree list to locate the desired pathway. At the bottom of the side panel a search text field is shown, which may be used to limit the number of pathways shown in the tree. It is also possible to search for map numbers. (4) Use the command button at the bottom to load the selected pathway.

The pathway tree may contain entries which are not available for download. In this case a error message will be shown at the bottom right of the application window. This is a normal behavior. If such a pathway is truly available, you should download the pathway file with a web-browser and load it from disk, as described in the beginning.
